“Adventure Treks’ unique emphasis on the ‘culture of kindness’ and the way they form adolescent students into a true community is what separates Adventure Treks from other programs”

EXPERIENCES AND ADVENTURES are suitable for 12-16 year old students in 6th through 10th grade with little or no outdoor experience. These trips are also very suitable for students who have had previous outdoor experience with their families, at summer camp, or with other outdoor programs. We teach all the skills necessary for a successful first trip. Students are introduced to new activities and to Adventure Treks. Because groups are composed of 24 students, we frequently break into smaller groups, allowing students to experience an appropriate level of challenge for each activity. We ask that all students become active participants, willing to try new things and meet new people away from the comfort of their homes. EXPERIENCES are 16-day trips with one backpacking trip. ADVENTURES are slightly longer and add a second backpacking trip, helping to build a closer community.

CHALLENGE AND ULTIMATE trips are designed for high school students who are 15 to 17 years old. Because groups are composed of 24 students, we frequently break into smaller groups, allowing students to experience an appropriate level of challenge for each activity. Students who are active in sports will do well on these trips, even without previous outdoor experience. Students with previous outdoor experience will find plenty of challenge and many opportunities to take their skills to the next level and to assume leadership roles.

ALASKA AND LEADERSHIP TRIPS are designed for 16-19 year olds in 10th, 11th and 12th grade with permission from our Director (please call for details). These trips include extended backcountry time and provide significant individual leadership opportunities for students. Students should expect to take on more responsibility and contribute a great deal to the success of the trip.
