Ask any A.T. student Dock's 3 favorite words, and the universal response will be "safety, safety, safety!" Safety is our primary goal and we are extremely proud of our outstanding safety record. We have worked with over 8,000 students in the last 30 years without any hospital stays or serious injuries.
We teach our students to develop "expedition behavior" and our certified and experienced instructors teach safety in every activity. We make safety decisions as if parents were looking over our shoulder at all times.
Adventure Treks received the 2008 and 2009 "Safety First" award from Markel Insurance for excellence in safety education compared to peers.
With over 20 special use permits throughout the US and Canada, Adventure Treks is required to meet professional standards which far exceed those of summer camp associations. Adventure Treks is not a summer camp, and therefore not ACA certified. We are a professional outdoor educational program with operating procedures and safety standards that are reviewed by over 20 federal land management agencies.

The success of each Adventure begins with the selection of outstanding students. Adventure Treks attracts phenomenal young people assuring a great peer group. We check at least two references on every student and applicants write an essay with their application. Adventure Treks has served students from all 50 states and more than 20 countries. A typical trip will have 15 different states represented.

We have the lowest instructor to student ratio of any outdoor program, which allows each student to receive individual attention, yet still include diverse talents, backgrounds, and interests.
Adventure Treks is the only adventure camp with 24 students with 6 instructors. Years of experience have proven this to be the ideal size to create a phenomenal community experience.
The fact that we have the highest student return rate in the industry attests to the success of our group size.
For each activity, we divide into three smaller groups of 8 students with 2 instructors. With three groups, students can choose an appropriate level of challenge. This allows them to share the experience with others of similar abilities and make close friendships in a small group setting. The small group size also increases the individual learning and leadership opportunities.
When the 3 groups come back together at night, the shared community experience unfolds during dinner and "evening meeting" and students learn the value of friendship, leadership, and volunteering.
