International Families

Adventure Treks is thrilled to welcome teenagers from all over the United States and even the world. In a typical year, our students hail from about 40 states and 20 countries. We believe that having this global community strongly benefits our students, who truly enjoy and appreciate making friends with others from different cultures and backgrounds. Through our welcoming communities and exciting outdoor activities, students can easily find common ground and quickly make lasting bonds.

We have welcomed students from Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, the Bahamas, Belgium, Cayman Islands, Canada, Chile, China, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Honduras, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, the Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Venezuela, and more!

Rachel had an amazing summer adventure and experience. She came back full of stories and with a new sense of accomplishment, love of the outdoors, and many new friendships. From a parent perspective, I was very happy with the communication before, during, and after the trip, from phone discussions and written information to pictures and blog posts during the trip. Communication was always so well-written and very well thought-out. Adventure Treks is a really well-run company, and I was very impressed. – Tamar Brooks, parent from London, England

Below is some helpful information for our international student applicants:

Language interview

While we welcome non-native-English-speaking students, we do require they be able to speak English proficiently for both community-building and safety reasons. All non-native-English speakers will interview with one of our directors to ensure their English is sufficient to join a trip. This happens at the beginning of the application process.

Payment options

International families have several options for deposit and tuition payments. They may pay via credit card* (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express); an e-check using a checking or savings account (must be a U.S. account); or wire transfer.

*Please note that there is an additional 2.9 percent bank processing fee when using a credit card. There are no fees for U.S. e-checks or wire transfers (except for those from your bank).

Arriving to your adventure

Our international students flying from locations outside North America may arrive the evening before their adventure starts. This way, they’ll get extra rest and time to acclimate to the time difference. There is an additional fee to cover airport pick-up, meals, and lodging.

Please contact us before booking an international flight that arrives the evening before, as we do need to approve all early arrival flights.

If you would like to learn more about our application process for new international students, please do not hesitate to call us at 001-828-698-0399 or email us. We are always happy to answer questions and welcome the opportunity to get to know another student from a different country!
