Courtney

Trip leader

An Iowa local, Courtney is currently pursuing a graduate degree at her alma mater. When she’s not working as the graduate assistant of the outdoor adventures program at her university, Courtney works at the local rock climbing gym. She was also a climbing wall supervisor and instructor at UNI. During her undergrad years, Courtney was also a trip coordinator, leading multi-day backpacking, climbing, and canoeing expeditions in places like the Grand Canyon, Diablo Canyon, and Kickapoo and Wisconsin rivers. Several years ago, Courtney did a field study course with the University of Colorado and Rocky Mountain Field Institute regarding trail construction on Pike’s Peak.

  • Favorite outdoor memory: At the bottom of the Grand Canyon, we had a zero day [a day off from hiking], and that morning we walked to a stream near our campground, ate breakfast, did some group yoga, and read for a few hours.
  • Favorite outdoor achievement: Completing my first solo backpacking trip!
  • Favorite place you’ve traveled: Alaska with Adventure Treks! The views are nothing I had seen before, and nothing can compare to them.
