Education
Appalachian State University, bachelor’s degree in recreation management
Certifications
Wilderness first responder, PSIA alpine level 1, PSIA children’s specialist
Favorite hobbies
Trail running, skiing, creating, reading, mountain biking, health and wellness, drinking coffee and taking care of my house plants. I’ve become a puzzle connoisseur and gotten really into dinosaurs lately.
Favorite outdoor achievement
This past fall, I was guiding in Zion National Park, and my group and I did a morning hike to the base of Angel’s Landing. We got to see TWO California condors circling the area for almost an hour and listen to a park ranger talk on these beautiful birds. These are one of the rarest birds in the world, and we watched them soar among the canyon for almost an hour while we ate our snacks and nerded out all together!
Favorite outdoor memory
Last summer, I was backpacking in the Shasta Trinity Alps on California Challenge 2. It was over 100 degrees and there somehow were still pockets of snow at the higher elevations. We spent SO much time playing in the snow, building snowmen, having snowball fights and snow-lympics and even built a snow cave. It was such a sweet and cold surprise, and we had an absolute blast!
Favorite place in the world
Taiwan or New Zealand internationally, and I’ve really fallen in love with the Utah desert this last year.
What are you most looking forward to this summer?
This summer, I’m most looking forward to creating a welcoming and joy-filled community with my students, where we can laugh, dance, challenge, and support each other!
