Hannah

Hannah grew up outside of Raleigh, NC, and now lives in Grand Junction, CO. This past fall and spring, Hannah guided  trips with Explorer Chick, an all-women’s adventure travel company; this past winter, she was a ski instructor at Powderhorn Mountain Resort. She also worked as a substitute teacher this school year. Previously in Grand Junction, Hannah spent time with a non-profit organization as an advocate working with at-risk and homeless youth. She spent two seasons as a ski instructor in Steamboat Springs, CO, and worked as a trip leader for Mountain Alliance in North Carolina, a non-profit organization that provides after-school and weekend outings in outdoor adventure, community service, and cultural activities for teenagers. She’s also worked as the assistant manager for Rivergirl Fishing Company; a crew leader at Paddle Creek Kayaking company; and studied outdoor recreation at the Ara Institute at Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.

• Education: Appalachian State University, bachelor’s degree in recreation management
• Certifications: Wilderness first responder, PSIA alpine level 1, PSIA children’s specialist
• Favorite outdoor memory: This past winter, I would go on morning coffee laps with my coworkers; we would ride the ski lift up with our coffee mugs and find a spot on the mountain to post up, sip up, and take in the view.
• Favorite outdoor achievement: One of my newest favorite outdoor achievements would be getting to guide seven women up to the summit of Angel’s Landing. Their courage, support for each other, and perseverance was incredibly inspiring, and our beautiful summit view was accompanied by tears of joy and pride—and buffalo chicken wraps!
• Favorite place you’ve traveled: Taiwan, New Zealand, or Alaska
• Favorite hobbies: Trail running, skiing, creating, reading, mountain biking, health and wellness, drinking coffee and taking care of my house plants
• What are you most excited for this summer? This summer, I’m most looking forward to cultivating a welcoming, intentional, and FUN community for our staff and students! I can’t wait to support our staff so they can best support our students, and help foster memorable and impactful memories for everyone.
