Education
Plymouth State University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and adventure education
Certifications
Wilderness first responder, Leave No Trace master educator
Favorite hobbies
Rock climbing, hiking, whittling, watercolor painting, playing guitar, and learning to identify wildlife (especially birds and spiders). I have been more into hammock camping recently, and I make stained glass art/jewelry now.
Favorite outdoor achievement
A few summers ago, I was able to help kids turn their fear of bugs and spiders into an interest. I love getting students curious about nature.
Favorite outdoor memory
My favorite outdoor memory is from an Adventure Treks trip. On our backpacking trip in the Talkeetnas Mountains in Alaska, we “pranked” the other half of our group by hiking two miles through mud while carrying a fully setup tent over our heads. My favorite not-AT outdoor memory is experimenting with cooking (apple cider pancakes) while backpacking in the White Mountains with friends.
Favorite place in the world
My favorite place is either the forests by my family’s home or a little trail by a creek in the forests of the Lost Coast in California. It was the most peaceful place I’ve ever found.
What are you most looking forward to this summer?
I am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and lots of new ones. I am excited for more adventures and lots of wackiness.
Previous Adventure Treks trips include Colorado Explorer, British Columbia, California Challenge, and Alaska Expedition
