Maya
Instructor
A former Adventure Treks student, this summer Maya joins us as an instructor! Originally from North Carolina, Maya attends school in Pennsylvania; there, she studies engineering as she leads the Lafayette Motorsports Club. She’s also a member of the Lafayette Outdoors Society and Sustainability committee. Maya attended three trips as a student, including California Challenge, Alaska Expedition, and Leadership Summit.
- Education: Lafayette College, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Certifications: Wilderness first responder
- Favorite outdoor memory: Cowboy camping by the beach and seeing shooting stars at night.
- Favorite outdoor achievement: Helping lead my Leadership Summit group on a backpack in Olympic National Park.
- Favorite place you’ve traveled: I have really enjoyed my backpacking trips with AT, specifically in the Lost Coast, Olympic National Park, and the Talkeetnas.
- Favorite hobbies: I enjoy backpacking and hiking. I also enjoy reading and have recently gotten into crochet.
- What are you most excited for this summer? I am most looking forward to spending time outside while getting to connect with students and my fellow instructors.
