Regan

Instructor

Originally from Florida, Regan still calls the Sunshine State home. She’s worked several seasons as an outdoor education instructor at the Science Adventure School in West Virginia; there, she was also a ski instructor at Snowshoe Mountain. Previously, Regan worked at an environmental center in her home state, where she led snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and camping activities. Her background also includes substitute teaching!

  • Education: University of Florida, bachelor’s degree in environmental management in agriculture and natural resources
  • Certification: Wilderness first responder, lifeguard, PADI open water diver
  • Favorite outdoor memory: My first solo camping/backpacking trip! When I first started getting into the outdoors, I took a solo trip to North Carolina that I was so nervous for! I’m still so proud of younger me for getting out there and doing it scared!
  • Favorite outdoor achievement: My biggest highlights have been seeing the outdoors through younger student’s eyes. Seeing a timid student blossom into a confident and excited one in the outdoors is always the best feeling. I have some specific memories with students hiking down to the rock wall nervous and coming back with completely changed attitudes.
  • Favorite hobbies: Dancing to any music that is dance-able, swimming in any body of water that is swim-able, looking for cool bugs, and trying all the new snacks anywhere I travel.
  • Favorite place you’ve traveled: I spent a summer studying conservation in Kruger National Park [in South Africa], so that will always be a life highlight.
  • What are you most excited about this summer? I am so excited to explore some amazing places with my fellow instructors and students!
