A midwesterner at heart, Sam currently resides in Pensacola, where she’s pursuing a degree at the University of West Florida. Sam attended three trips as an Adventure Treks student in California, Alaska, and the Pacific Northwest on our leadership program, and she’s backpacked extensively in the Applachian Mountains and in Colorado. Sam spent the last five summers as a children’s swim instructor, and she’s also worked as a classroom math tutor.

Wilderness first responder
I love backpacking and mountaineering. I’m always up for a new adventure and love searching for new trails. Going into the wilderness and finding incredible peaks to stand on is my favorite part of going outside. When I’m not outside, I tackle life in the pool as a collegiate swimmer.
My favorite outdoor achievement has been summiting Mount Shasta. Conquering my self doubts during my first-ever time mountaineering taught me so much about what I was capable of and gave me an incredible new passion for the outdoors. The community of support I had with me was unlike any other and made the whole experience just that much better.
My favorite outdoor memory was summiting Mount Adams. The group I was with felt like family, and together we pushed ourselves to achieve something incredible. I found so much love and meaning tackling the inspiring peak with such remarkable friends by my side.
The Trinity Alps in northern California are my favorite place in the world because of not only their incredible beauty but also the special memories I have there.
